PATTAYA – Police are searching for a 31-year-old Chinese man after CCTV footage allegedly captured him carrying an unconscious Chinese woman into a car, then driving more than 230 kilometers before her body was found in a canal.
According to Pattaya Police, the case began on Feb. 23, 2026, when a 28-year-old man identified as “Jak” filed a report with investigators at Nong Prue Police Station. He said 34-year-old Jie Zhengjiao, a Chinese national, sent him a short message asking for help. The text was sent around 6:37 a.m. on Feb. 21, simply read, “Help.”
After that, Jak tried to call her back but couldn’t reach her. Growing worried, he contacted her boyfriend, Zhang Xiaotian, 31, but he never answered. Zhang then flew from China to Thailand and asked the police to help locate Jie because he feared she was in danger.
After receiving the missing person report, Pol. Col. Nattapol Phongsuksakul, superintendent of Nong Prue Police Station, ordered investigators to work the case and gather information at her last known location, which was a pool villa on Soi Chaiyapruek, Moo 12, Nong Prue subdistrict, Bang Lamung district, Chonburi.
At the pool villa, officers obtained what they described as key evidence from the CCTV surveillance cameras. The footage reportedly shows a Chinese man trying to carry and drag Jie while she appeared unconscious.
In the video, he is seen holding her from behind and pulling her along a walkway inside the property. He then carries her into a black BMW sedan and drives away, heading toward Bangkok.
Investigators tracked the BMW and later found its registered owner. The owner reportedly told police that a Chinese friend borrowed the car and was gone for one day before returning it and parking it back.
On March 12, Zhang returned to the Nong Prue police to give another statement after forensic results confirmed a major development. DNA testing identified an unidentified female body found earlier as Jie Zhengjiao.
The body was discovered on Feb. 25, floating in a canal near mango and coconut orchards in Moo 10, Bang Phae subdistrict, Bang Phae district, Ratchaburi. Police said the location is about 238 kilometers from the pool villa.
The woman’s upper body was unclothed, and she was wearing only white shorts. Officers reported no visible signs of assault or obvious wounds on the body. Police are still collecting evidence to request an arrest warrant for the Chinese man seen in the CCTV footage. Authorities have not released further details.
