BEIJING – A 3-year-old boy fell from a sixth story balcony and was miraculously saved by a group of people that gathered below using a blanket to break the child’s fall. It was all captured on China’s CCTV.

Captured in a gut-wrenching video, the scene unfolded Monday in China’s Chongqing Municipality, the state media outlet reported.

The footage shows a young child dangling from a balcony with only his hands holding on. Suddenly, the child drops and plummets toward the ground.

But below the balcony, a crowd of people had formed and pulled a blanket taut to break the child’s fall.

The child survived and suffered no injuries, CCTV reported.

“I looked up and saw a little child was dangling up there. My first reaction was to find something to catch him.”

Zhu Yanhui, a local property management company employee told the state broadcaster.

“I thought about rushing over there and catch him with my bare hands, but that would not have worked.”

“I looked at the blanket wondering whether we could catch him safely. My only thought was to keep him safe,” Zhu added.

CCTV reported that the boy’s grandmother had left the child unattended when she went grocery shopping. The boy was taken to a nearby hospital by a neighbor, state media said.
