Ukrainian Authorities Say 21 Civilians Were Killed in a Sumy Strike
It has been reported by Ukrainian authorities that 21 civilians have been killed in the airstrike over Sumy
According to the regional prosecutor’s office, the death toll for the overnight attack in Sumy, a city located in northeastern Ukraine, is now at 21, including 21 civilians.
There have been reports of 19 adults and 2 children dying as a result of an airstrike that occurred in the city.
One house was completely destroyed by the bomb, the other sixteen were partially destroyed. As of 7:00 this morning, the bodies of 21 people, including two children, had been discovered during an inspection,” the statement said.
Earlier this week, the Ukrainian government and Russia agreed to a single evacuation corridor in Sumy, a city that has recently been subjected to sustained Russian attacks and airstrikes.
Bombing in Sumy: Russian airstrikes on an apartment building in Sumy have resulted in the deaths of nine civilians, including two children, according to the State Emergency Service of Ukrainian(SES).
The United States has accused Russian forces of targeting pre-approved safe routes for the evacuation of civilians after several attempts to evacuate them failed this week.
Eight people, including two children who were trying to escape from the conflict, were killed by a Russian airstrike outside Kyiv on Sunday.
As reported by the UN, the Ukrainian ambassador to the UN accused Russia of blocking efforts to evacuate civilians, saying it was “appalling” that Russian troops opened fire on evacuees on roads that both countries had designated for evacuation.
