CHIANG RAI – The Director of the Tourism Infrastructure Suban Prakongjai and Tambon Wiang’s Municipality Mayor Chamrat Kotiyee hosted a meeting to gather public opinion on the development of tourism attractions in the Golden Triangle area in Chiang Saen District of Chiang Rai province.
Participants included members from the government and private agencies as well as the general public.
In this meeting, the officials informed the participants that the MOTS’ Department of Tourism (DOT) had planned to renovate the tourism plan in the Golden Triangle area to be more scenic and less crowded through a construction project. The construction project will depict a Lanna style pavilion and landscaping renovation with a 25 million baht budget.
It is reported that the DOT will collect feedback from this meeting to adjust the project design, while the estimated completion time for this project will be during 2015-2016.
The Golden Triangle is a major tourism attraction in Chaing Rai province. The area holds the border of Thailand, Laos, and Myanmar, which are divided by the rivers, allowing tourists to visit three countries in this single destination.
