Rehabilitation Aide Provided to Chiang Rai Earthquake Victims
CHIANG RAI – The Chiang Rai Provincial Governor has ordered authorities to speed-up earthquake assistance measures, while doctors and nurses have arrived in the area to be of assistance to depressed quake victims.
Medical teams from the Mae Lao and Mae Fah Luang Hospitals have surveyed earthquake-stricken areas to support quake victims who had become mentally distressed. The hospital’s staff members provided physical therapy, traditional Thai massage, and acupuncture as a form of physical relief. They also offered consultations to those who were severely affected by the quake.
Some of the victims have committed suicide since the quake struck on May 5th, as they were unable to cope with the trauma of the earthquake and its aftermath. A few of them had their homes completely destroyed since they lived close to the quake’s fault line.
The Chiang Rai Provincial Governor Pongsak Wongsamer has distributed bags of cement to a total of 646 households and ordered local authorities to inspect damage around the area.
