Public Prosecutor Decides on Monday Whether to Indict Red Bull Heir

The statute of limitations for the speeding charge against Mr Vorayuth is due to expire on Sept 3

BANGKOK – Ruecha Krairiksh the public prosecutor will decide on Monday whether to indict Red Bull heir Vorayuth Yoovidhya, who allegedly killed a police officer in a hit-and-run last year.

 

The prosecutor has already postponed the decision four times and statute the of limitations for the speeding charge against Mr Vorayuth is due to expire on Sept 3.

Ruecha Krairiksh, lead prosecutor in the case, said the indictment was postponed repeatedly because the suspect had complained to police that the Attorney-General’s Office should interview four more eye-witnesses to ensure fairness.

 

However, Thong Lor police had yet to submit any additional information regarding the suspect’s petition to prosecutors, Mr Ruecha said.

 

Mr Vorayuth, grandson of Red Bull energy drink founder Chaleo Yoovidhya, allegedly rammed his Ferrari into Pol Snr Sgt Maj Wichian Klanprasert’s motorcycle on Sukhumvit Soi 47 in the early hours of Sept 3 last year.

 

The policeman’s body was dragged about 200 metres along the road.

 

Mr Vorayuth allegedly fled the scene and was arrested several hours later at his home on Sukhumvit Soi 53.
