Points Table After Australia vs Netherlands At The ICC World Cup 2023

(CTN News) – On Wednesday night, the five-time World Champions of Australia defeated the Netherlands by 309 runs in the 24th match of the ICC World Cup 2023 at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi, India. The win surely made things easier for the team.

As a result of the massive 309-run win, Australia has dramatically improved its net run rate (NRR) and has strengthened their position on their way to the semi-finals of the mega event.

Here’s the World Cup points table after Australia’s third win:

As the hosts attempted to chase down the colossal target of 400 runs, not a single Dutch batter was able to hold their nerves and stand against the bowling attack that included Mitchell Starc, Josh Hazlewood, Pat Cummins, Adam Zampa, and Mitchell Marsh.

As the Netherlands lost wickets quickly, they were soon all out for just 90 runs as they were soon all out for just 90 runs.

It was not just Zampa who took four wickets, but Marsh also picked up two wickets, while Starc, Cummins, and Hazlewood also picked up a wicket each.

There was no mercy shown to the Dutch bowlers earlier in the game as both Glenn Maxwell and David Warner took turns to terrorise the Dutch bowlers and set Australia on its way to a massive 399-run total in the first innings.

Despite losing Mitchell Marsh early in the game, Australia were off to a flying start in their match against England.

As Steve Smith and Warner came together to form a 132-run partnership, they were able to get their side on track for a huge score.

In the event Smith lost his wicket for 71 runs, Marnus Labuschagne played with the left-handed opener and put on an 84-run stand with him.

Following the loss of Warner’s wicket, Australia lost wickets in quick successions and it looked as if the five-time World Champions would have to settle for a total between 300 and 330 runs, but Maxwell’s century in just 40 balls was the fastest in the history of the World Cup, and he changed Cummins’ team’s fortunes.

When the 35-year-old stepped up to bat when the Aussies were 266-4 in 38 overs after the team had just lost the wicket of Josh Inglis, he started hitting the Dutch bowlers and scored 106 runs in total off just 44 deliveries.

He hit 17 boundaries, nine fours and eight sixes as part of his 106 runs from just 44 deliveries.

In their next match, the five-time World Champions will play the in-form New Zealand on October 28 in Dharamshala, India. At the same time, the Netherlands will play Bangladesh in Kolkata on the same date.
