Tourism Council of Thailand Meets With Immigration to Discuss Visa Measures

BANGKOK – The Tourism Council of Thailand and the Immigration Bureau discussed measures concerning visitors’ long stays and visas on arrival to continuously stimulate tourism.

TCT president Chairat Trirattanajarasporn led his delegation to the discussion with Pol Maj Gen Nathapol Sawaengkit, deputy commissioner of the Immigration Bureau.

Mr Chairat said they discussed tourists’ safety, cross-border tourism, the promotion of long stays and fee exemption for visas on arrival that was set to be valid for 20 countries and one economic zone until October, TNA reports.

He said the cooperation with the Immigration Bureau should maintain tourism growth from the low season to the high season. Without promotions, tourists would shift to neighboring countries which were offering free visas and other interesting promotions, he said.

The meeting also discussed multiple visas for businesspeople and visitors to meetings. Multiple visas would boost arrivals in Thailand, Mr Chairat said.
