Briton Died ‘Tripping Over Suitcase’ and Crashing Through Balcony Door
TRAT – A British Coroner has revealed that a British man died after “tripping over his suitcase” and falling through glass doors to his hotel balcony in Thailand.
Luke Goodere, 33, had stopped off at Phi Phi island on the way back home to Sydney, Australia after his first visit to see family in the UK.
A friend recalled that he was fast asleep at 4am, but he was found dead in the room four hours later on April 11th.
It is believed he may have got out of bed to use the toilet, tripped over his suitcase on the floor and fell through glass doors to the balcony. Police believe Luke Goodere, 33, suffered a fatal abdominal injury when he was pierced with a shard of glass.

The cause of death was abdominal haemorrhage as a result of abdominal injury, according to the post mortem.
A coroner in Lincoln heard how after enjoying a festival with pals, Luke returned to his hotel.
The Coroner ruled it was an accident and said; “The best evidence is that Briton was socializing at a festival.
“He had consumed some alcohol and he and his friends returned to his accommodation.
“During the course of the night he got up from the bed and suffered an accidental fall. Suffering an injury that led to his death.”
The Coroner said information from Thailand had been “sparse.” The Thai police investigation appears to have excluded the possibility of third party involvement.
“There’s no suggestion that any criminal act was suspected or investigated.”
