Thailand’s PM Gen Prayut Dismisses Anti-Money Laundering Chief Under Section 44 of the Interim Constitution

BANGKOK – Prime Minister Gen Prayut Chan-o-cha invoked Section 44 of the interim constitution Tuesday to dismiss Anti-Money Laundering Office secretary-general Romsit Weeriyasan from his post.

Pol Maj Gen Romsit will instead serve as an inspector-general attached to the Office of the Prime Minister under the National Council for Peace and Order chief’s order No.12/2561.

The order was published in the Royal Gazette Tuesday. It did not state the reason for the move.
