Pattaya Music Festival to Continue Despite Recent Covid Cases

The Pattaya music festival and other Pattaya activities will continue as planned despite recent coronavirus infection discoveries in a group that gathered outside the concert venue, Mayor Mr. Sonthaya Khunpleum said on Friday.

Sonthaya said no events will be disrupted as a result of the discovery of the virus during Nove 12 and 13 on the second weekend of the Pattaya Music Festival.

In Chon Buri, provincial public health officials on Thursday urged unmasked attendees who had gone outside the concert site on those two days to get tested since some people outside the site had been infected with the virus.

The number of people infected was not specified by the office.

Concerts were held on Nov 12-13 in conjunction with the music festival, which started on Nov 5-6. There will be two more concerts on the beach on December 3-4 and 10-11.

On Friday and Saturday, the city will host a fireworks festival, as well as celebrate the New Year from Dec 29 to Dec 31.

Mr. Sonthaya expressed confidence in the measures taken to prevent the spread of the virus, pointing out that only 500 concert-goers were allowed inside the music zone for proper social distancing.

Authorities will also take action against violators of alcohol bans, he added, as they step up patrols outside the concert zone.
