Couple Killed, Young Daughter Injured in Head-on Collision in Northeastern Thailand
BANGKOK – A young couple were killed and their seven-year-old daughter injured when a pickup they were traveling in collided with a six-wheel truck in the Northeastern Province of Nakhon Ratchasima on Sunday morning.
The accident occurred about 10am on Prathai-Ban Mai Chaipot road in tambon Talat Sai of Prathai district.
Samlee Yuenyong, the driver of the six-wheel truck, told police he was transporting frozen chicken to Mukdahan province. A pickup coming from the opposite direction had tried to overtake the two vehicles in front of it, but instead collided head-on with his truck.
The pickup driver, Krisna Taniwan, and his wife Chutima Mumklang were killed and their seven-year-old daughter injured. The girl was admitted to Prathai Hospital. The pickup was totally demolished.
Meanwhile, Two elderly people collecting teak seeds along a roadside in Muang district in the northern Province of Phrae were killed when a pickup truck collided with a car and then ran off the road and hit them on Sunday.
Police called to the scene found a Ford car with damage to its front stalled on the road and a damaged Isuzu pickup truck nearby in a ditch dividing the road. Both drivers waited for police to arrive.
The two elderly victims had cast their ballots at a polling station at Village Moo 1 in tambon Pamed late in the morning, before collecting the abundant teak seeds under the trees along the road.
