Police Seize Over Half a Million Methamphetamine Pills in Two Major Drug Busts

BANGKOK –  Police Gen Priewpan Damapong, an advisor to the prime minister, has reported that the Royal Thai Police have arrested six people and seized 400,000 methamphetamine pills and  seized three pickup trucks at a car park at Suvarnabhumi airport in Bangkok.

The Chief of Samut Prakan Police Station, Pol Maj Gen Thanai Apichartseni said the sting operation came after an intelligence report was received that a drug trafficking ring would hand over a large amount of illegal drugs to clients at the international airport’s car park.

Plainclothes police were deployed in and around Suvarnabhumi airport in Bangkok. After spotted three suspicious pickup trucks and went to search the vehicles, upon searching the pickup trucks they found 400,000 methamphetamine – yaba – pills hidden inside.

One of the suspects, Wanchai Sae Yang, told police that he and his gang members were paid 50,000 baht each to drive two pickup trucks from Chiang Mai’s Mae Aye district to Suvarnabhumi Airport.

Mr Wanchai said he was directed to hand over the two pickup trucks to the other suspects led by Ahama Sereh. After that he and his colleagues would travel back to Chiang Mai by plane.

The suspects were charged with possessing illegal drugs.

The suspects were identified as Wanchai Sae Yang, Pracha Sae Fong, Ahama Sireh, Sagariya Sireh, Ebrohen Rorten and Chanruedee Theepborworn.

168,000 Yaba Pills, 252kg of Marijuana Seized Ayutthaya

Police arrested four suspects and seized 168,000 methamphetamine pills, with an estimated street value of 50 million baht, in a drug raid on many spots in Ayutthaya province on Sunday.

The operation, involving 23 teams of 506 police, was launched on information that about 22 drug suspects had used Ayutthaya as their base for the drug trade in Bangkok and nearby provinces as well as in the Central and Northeast regions in coordination with drug convicts in Klong Phai Prison in Nakhon Ratchasima’s Si Khiu district.

In a raid on a house in Rom Ruen housing estate in tambon Chiang Rak Noi of Bang Pa-in district, the police arrested Nathawat Tingchairoj, 34, and seized 140,000 meth pills.

Acting on information from Nathawat, the police arrested three other suspects – Chaiyuth Natworathat, 32, Wassana Paopang, 22, and Arisa Kingngern, 27 – with 28,000 speed pills.

In Nakhon Phanom, seven men were arrested with 252 kilogrammes of compressed marijuana on the bank of the Mekong river.

Pol Lt Col Chusak Thavornpoj, the That Phanom police chief, said the seven men were arrested at about 4am with the marjuana, smuggled from Laos, on the bank of the Mekong river at Ban Khap Phuang in tambon Nam Kam.

The police also seized two pickup trucks and three motorcycles used by the seven suspects, who were initially charged with smuggling drugs into the country with intent to sell. – – Bangkok Post
