SURAT THANI – Pol Capt Arvut Palichai, a duty officer at Muang district police station told reporters that a patienteing rushed to a hospital was killed and two nurses and the driver of an ambulance injured in a collision with a pick-up truck at an intersection in Muang district late on Tuesday night.

Pol Capt Arvut Palichai, said that while the ambulance of Surat Thani Hospital’s emergency rescue unit was running through the Bang Yai intersection, it was hit on the left side by a pick-up truck which was also passing the intersection on receiving the green light.

Two nurses from the Hospital — Ms Piangsom Sumpradit, 39, and Ms Piyawan Chansuk, 29 — and driver Chanchai Khuenkaew, 42, were injured.

A male patient, identified as Anucha Phusanthia, 30, was killed after being thrown out of the ambulance onto the road by the impact.

Police were investigating the drivers of the two vehicles.
