Passenger Train Crashes into Truck Killing two in Nakhon Sawan

NAKHON SAWAN – Pol Lt Bonchote Kiewlek, a duty officer at Takhli police station in Nakhon Sawan Province has told reporters that two men were killed Sunday in Takhli district after their six-wheel truck cut in front of a moving train and was struck before it could cross the tracks.
Pol Lt Bonchote Kiewlek said the accident occurred at noon at an unregulated rail crossing at Ban Hua Wai in tambon Hua Wai, the Bangkok Post reported.
The two men were employees of a company transporting canned foods and drinks.

According to the Bangkok Post report, Phakorn Sangnoi, 28, the truck driver cut in front of a packed rapid Bangkok-Den Chai train at a crossing where there were no lights and barriers.
The train packed with passengers dragged the truck’s tractor along the tracks for about 400 meters before it stopped.
Mr. Phakorn and his colleague Yod Jeenkrachan, 35 were thrown out of the vehicle by the impact and were found dead on the grass near the wreckage of the truck.
Train services were halted for about an hour as railway and rescue workers clear the wrecked truck and changed the locomotive.
Pol Lt Bonchote said the State Railway of Thailand would seek compensation for damage caused to its locomotive from the trucking company.
