Customs officials Bust Woman at Don Mueang Airport with 4.24kg of Meth

BANGKOK – A 30-year-old Thai  woman Moncharika Latontap was arrested yesterday at Don Mueang airport for allegedly trafficking in narcotics hidden in nine pair of shoes, authorities said.

Customs officials found a total of 4.24kg of crystal methamphetamine, or ice, concealed in the shoes when they examined the luggage of Moncharika Latontap.

Ms Moncharika arrived at the airport from Shenzhen in China. The authorities found the shoes unusually heavy and examined them more thoroughly.

The suspect said she was not aware of the hidden drugs. She claimed she was persuaded to go to Shenzhen and bring the shoes for sale in Thailand. According to authorities, the seized drugs had a street value of over 15 million baht
