CHIANG RAI – Senior officials of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) visited the Tham Luang Cave in Khun Nam Nang Non forest park in Chiang Rai, where 12 young footballers and their coach were trapped last year.

The visit was made Friday while the senior ASEAN officials attended a meeting in the province. They were welcomed by the provincial governor at the entrance of the cave and later photographed with the 12 boys from the Moo Pa Wild boars football team.

Chiang Rai authorities are currently developing the cave for tourism. The cave is now closed to the public for an indefinite period to facilitate removal of rescue equipment inside the cave.
