45 Countries Issue Travel Warnings for Thailand

According to Ministry of Foreign Affairs' Department of Information, 45 countries including the US, UK, Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Switzerland, Japan, China, India, Singapore and the Philippines have adjusted their travel warnings for its citizens who have planned trips or are visiting Thailand.

BANGKOK – Fifty five countries worldwide have issued travel warnings, informing their nationals about the ongoing political situation in Thailand after the military coup on Thursday.
Army chief Gen Prayut Chan-ocha announced the coup d’etat on Thursday in a televised address to the nation, saying the armed forces had seized power in a military coup, two days after declaring martial law to end street protests and fatal violence as well as to restore stability and peace.
According to Ministry of Foreign Affairs’ Department of Information, 45 countries including the US, UK, Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Switzerland, Japan, China, India, Singapore and the Philippines have adjusted their travel warnings for its citizens who have planned trips or are visiting Thailand.
Most of the advisory have informed their nationals that there was a coup in Thailand and curfew was announced and recommended them to follow up on information and abide by the Thai government officials advisements.
They were urged to avoid political gatherings and refrain from unnecessary forays outside their residences. They were also advised to carry their passports all the time.
Hong Kong, the Philippines and South Korea haves ungraded their advisory warning, urging their citizens who have planned to visit Thailand to reschedule or cancel trips and for those already here’s to be prepared for evacuation
