The National Disaster Warning Centre on Thursday issued a warning for people in seven provinces in the North and Northeast to brace for heavy rain and possible flash floods over the next few days.
The centre said from May 20 to 22, there will be heavy rain in Nan’s districts of Bor Klua, Thung Chang, Pua, Chiang Klang and Tha Wang Pha.
Major rain storms are also likely over the next few days in Jae Hom and Wang Nua districts of Lampang; in Muang, Phum Kam Yao, Mae Jai and Dok Kum Tai districts of Phayao; and Wiang Pa Pao district of Chiang Rai.
Areas of Chiang Mai, Mukdahan and Sakhon Nakhon, particularly the areas near Phu Phan mountain, should also be alert for possible storms.
State agencies in at-risk provinces were advised to prepare for floods.
