Drug Runner Crashes Pickup into House During Police Chase

A 33-year-old woman has been arrested and 600,000 meth pills seized after her pickup truck crashed into a roadside house while she was being chased by police in Northeastern Thailand.

Highway police signalled a Toyota Rivo pickup without licence plates to stop for a search at a highway check stop in Khon Kaen province, police said.

Rather than stopping, the pickup sped off towards Maha Sarakham province in the opposite direction. A police team was dispatched to pursue the vehicle.

During the crash in the Tambon Khwao Rai of Maha Sarakham’s Kosum Phisai district, the pickup ran off the road, hit a tree, then hit a house. The vehicle was badly damaged and the woman driver suffered injuries. She was transported to Kosum Phisai Hospital.

The woman was later identified as Natkamol, 33, from the province of Chaiyaphum.

After searching the crashed pickup truck, police found a fertiliser bag containing 600,000 meth pills.

Ms Natkamol admitted to the police that she filled 1.4 million meth pills for a dealer in Mukdahan province, according to police. As she told police that she travelled through Sakon Nakhon and Kalasin provinces, where she delivered goods to drug dealers.

A police spokesperson said she was on her way to Nong Song Hong district in Khon Kaen province when the highway police signalled her to pull over.

Legal proceedings were initiated against the woman by police.
