Drug Bust Gone Bad – 1 Million Baht Reward

Chiang Rai May 18 — A bounty of Bt1million was set for information leading to the arrest of drug dealers who killed a police officer Tuesday in a clash with an anti-drug unit in Chiang Rai as undercover authorities tried to buy 400,000 speed pills for Bt12 million. The wounded police officer has been transferred to Bangkok.

Pol Lt-Gen Adithep Panjamanont, commander of the Narcotics Suppression Bureau heads to Royal Thai Police Aviation Division at Don Mueang to receive Pol Sen Sgt-Maj Wallop Pakiratha who was wounded during the clash and was later transferred to Bangkok for further treatment.

Shot in the right shoulder, the bullet is embedded in his neck. The victim was sent to Police General Hospital for specialized surgery.

It was initially believed that the drug dealers wanted to rob the cash to buy drugs. Police are coordinating with Third Army Area headquarters to locate the drug ring members and a one million baht reward was set for further information.
