Undercover Police in Chiang Rai’s Mae Sai District Arrest Two Myanmar Men in a Sting Operation that Nets 30Kg of Crystal Meth

CHIANG RAI – Narcotics Suppression and local Police have arrested two Myanmar Nationals in Mae Sai Wednesday night for trafficking more than 30 kilograms of crystal methamphetamine.

A Police officer from the Narcotics Suppression division of the Royal Thai Police said on Thursday its officers and the local Mae Sai police conducted a sting operation that led to the arrest of Myanmar Nationals Sai Lyoe, 32, and Sai Hlang Han, 23.

Authorities said an informant was used to arrange a buy with undercover officers, when the pair two arrived in a pickup truck to deliver the crystal methamphetamine,they were immediately arrested.

The arrest took place at a hotel in Tambon Wiang Phang Kham, approximately one kilometre from the Myanmar border at Tachileik, the drugs were worth an estimated Bt30 million on the street.
