CHIANG RAI – A large number of holiday makers are spending the long weekend visiting Phu Chee Fah in Chiang Rai to savor the sea of mist on the mountain.
The influence of a west wind from Myanmar and a medium high pressure front from China that have reached the Northeast, have caused a temperature drop and a sea of mist on Phu Chee Fah. The temperature on the famous mountain has fallen to 15 degrees Celsius in the daytime and seven degrees Celsius at night.
According to Tabtao District Administrative Organization, related agencies have carried out improvements to facilities and services to ensure fair treatment for tourists. Outlets have been rearranged to facilitate the flow of traffic. Local hotel operators have agreed to maintain their room rates at 300 baht per room on average. The transport service up the mountain is being offered at 30 baht per trip.
The organization’s chief said Phu Chee Fah and nearby attractions were likely to become popular destinations for foreign tourists from neighboring countries after the ASEAN Economic Community emerges at the end of December. He added that Tabtao District Administrative Organization would discuss its tourism promotion plan for Chiang Rai with Mae Sai District Administrative Organization and the security sector.
