–
CHIANG RAI -The weather continues to cool down in Northern regions of Thailand, with the temperature on the mountaintop in Chiang Rai dropping to the single-digit range.
As winter has officially arrived, the temperature atop Phu Chi Fah in Amphoe Thoeng District, Chiang Rai province, has been recorded at as low as 10 degrees Celsius and set to drop to below that by Saturday. Besides the chilly weather, more and more visitors are making their way up to Chiang Rai’s highest peak to witness the beautiful sea of mist at sunrise.
As for the city area of Chiang Rai, foggy condition was reported in the morning over recent days, and the temperature was recorded around 19 degrees Celsius in Phan District.
Meanwhile, in the northeastern province of Nong Khai, locals who raise red-whiskered bulbuls for singing contests have had to leave their birds in the sun for 1-2 hours each day. The move is to give them the needed warmth after the mercury fell to about 19-20 degrees.
