Search by Chiang Rai Provincial Police and Soldiers for Clues into Shooting Ambush of Hmong Headman Comes Up Empty
CHIANG RAI – Provincial Police Region 5 chief Pol Lt-General Pulsap Prasertsak who lead a team of 500 soldiers, police through various areas of Wanag Kaen District in search of further clues to the April ambush of Hmong Headman Thaweesak Yodmaneebanphot and his family has come up empty.
Pol Lt-General Pulsap Prasertsak said the search team brought along the explosive ordnance disposal team, which used metal detectors to look for spent cartridges at spots where the gunmen were suspected of discharging their weapons used in the ambush.
The search failed to find any new evidence, but did lead to the arrests of a number of villagers possessing illegal items and unregistered weapons.
General Pulsap told Thai Media that the Headman Thaweesak’s role in the recent arrests of drug suspects might have prompted the attack that killed his wife and five-year-old daughter, and left the chief of Tambon Por and president of the Hmong People Club of Thailand and his three-year-old son seriously injured.
