Police Seize 150,000 Tablets of Methamphetamine (Yaba) in Chiang Rai

CHAING RAI – Police in the City of Chiang Rai have reportedly seized 150,000 methamphetamine tablets and arrested one suspect, who was on his way to Bangkok to deliver the drugs, which were hidden in the gas tank.

National Police Chief Pol. Gen. Adul Saengsingkaew, together with the arresting officers, yesterday announced the seizure of 150,000 methamphetamine tablets. Police were tipped off that drug smugglers in Chiangrai were going to deliver large quantities of drug to buyers in Bankok .

Police spotted the suspected truck driving around in Chiang Rai Province, and followed the truck to a hotel. Police searched the truck and found 150,000 methamphetamine pills hidden in the gas tank that had been converted into a compartment and arrested the driver.

When questioned, the suspicious looking-truck driver, aged 42, confessed that he had been hired by another man to take the narcotic drugs and deliver them to a buyer in Bangkok. Police also found that the truck had been reported lost or stolen earlier.
