Labour Minister Say’s Chiang Rai has Enormous Potential for Investment, Industry, and Tourism

CHIANG RAI – Thailand’s Labour Minister Gen Sirichai Distakul told attendees at a labour development workshop at the Rim Kok Resort Hotel that Chiang Rai province is a strong economic base with enormous potential for investment, industry, and tourism.
General Distakul stated that Chiang Rai is a key economic location, linking Thailand, Myanmar, Lao and lower China, stressing the importance of having accurate labour data and understanding labour demand for the development of labour.
General Distakul’s comments came during his keynote speech at a workshop on labour development in the ASEAN community.
The workshop held at Rim Kok Resort Hotel was held to develop the potential of employees, employers, freelancers, and government officials, preparing them for the ASEAN working environment.
The event was attended by 100 people from the provinces of Chiang Rai, Phayao, Phrae and Nan.
The Ministry of Labour this year is set to train more than 1.2 million skilled workers and organize workshops for 19,800 workers in the 10 Special Economic Zones. The ministry also plans to establish additional Smart Job Centers in 32 target provinces, including Chiang Rai.
