Korean Tour Bus in Chiang Rai Crashes into Pickup, Driver Dead, 16 Injured

Bus driver killed on Chiang Rai – Chiang Mai Highway

CHIANG RAI – Pol.Lt. Patcharawat Taweewuttirat has reported that a tourist bus carrying South Korean passengers crashed into an oncoming pick-up truck, killing the driver of the truck and injuring 16 Korean passengers.

Pol.Lt. Patcharawat Taweewuttirat said say the incident took place on Chiang Rai – Chiang Mai Road in Mae Saruai district shortly after midnight.

The driver of the bus Mr.Luen Traipat said he was driving the tourists from Chiang Rai to Chiang Mai province, when he “suddenly” lost control of the bus and slammed into the pick-up truck on the opposite lane at a high speed.

Police have arrested and charged Mr. Luen with reckless action leading to death of others.
