Heavy Rain Warning for Northern Thailand

People in risk areas should closely follow the weather forecast and disaster warnings

CHIANG RAI – The Disaster Prevention and Mitigation Department on Thursday issued a weather warning for people in Chiang Rai and 12 other Northern provinces for Thursday and Friday.

Chatchai Promlert, the department’s director general, warned that people living near hillsides and waterways in Tak, Sukhothai, Pitsanulok, Uttaradit, Phetchabun, Chiang Mai, Mae Hong Son, Lampang, Lamphun, Chiang Rai, Phayao, Phrae and Nan should brace for heavy rain, flash flooding, forest run-off and possible landslides during this period.

People in risk areas should closely follow the weather forecast and disaster warnings, and strictly comply with the advice given by the department, he said.
