Cold Weather to Remain in Northern and Northeastern Thailand

CHIANG RAI – The North and the Northeast of Thailand will remain cold with strong wind for another period from December 11-16 due to a moderate cold front from China which is spreading across the two regions, reported the Meteorological Department on Monday.

The cold front will strengthen the northeastern monsoon which is looming over the southern region and the Gulf, causing continuous rain in the southern region, with isolated heavy rain in certain areas.

Temperatures in the northern provinces of Chiang Rai, Mae Hong Son, Chiang Mai, Lampang, Lamphun, Tak, Phitsanulok and Petchabun from today until 6 am on Tuesday are forecast at 19-23 degrees Celsius at minimum and 29-32 degrees Celsius at maximum.

But mountain tops will be colder with temperatures ranging from 8-13 degrees Celsius.

Northern and Northeastern provinces also experience cold weather, with minimum temperatures ranging from 15-22 degrees Celsius and with isolated rain in certain areas.

Bangkok is cloudy, with chance of rain in 10 percent of the area and minimum temperatures range from 24-26 degrees Celsius and maximum temperatures from 32-34 degrees Celsius.
