Chiang Rai’s Pha Muang Task Force Seizes 100,000 Meth Pills after Firefight with Drug Runners

CHIANG RAI – The Pha Muang Task Force and police have recovered approximately 100,000 Meth Pills after an encounter with four drug-smugglers in Tambon Mae Fa Luang, about one kilometer from the Thai-Myanmar border.

Police and soldiers from the Pha Muang Task Force order the drug runners to stop, instead they opened fire on the Thai authorites, which resulted in a five-minute firefight after which the suspects fled.

Authorities searched the area after the gunfight and recovered a sack containing approximately 100,000 yaba pills (methamphetamine), three mobile phones and two motorcycles.

Authorities reported that no soldiers were injured during the firefight and that they are continuing the search for the four suspects.
