Chiang Rai Students Win Third Prize at 69th Intel International Science and Engineering Fair
CHIANG RAI – A team of high school students and teachers from Damrongratsongkroh School, after they won third place in a competition at the 69th Intel International Science and Engineering Fair (ISEF 2018).
The Thai team were awarded third place in the Animal Science category at the world’s largest high-school science-research competition, held in Pittsburgh, the United States, from May 13th to 18th. Their project involved the development of artificial honey cups for the expansion of Meliponini’s hives.
The team comprised three students, Wirachat Sripuri, Boonyakorn Sornkhayan, and Chitlada Chaichomphoo, along with two advisory teachers, Suthiphong Chaikaew and Kiattisak Inrassadorn.
They team arrived at Mae Fah Luang – Chiang Rai International Airport on Monday (May 21st). They were greeted and congratulated by the Governor of Chiang Rai, Narongsak Osottanakorn, students and teachers from Damrongratsongkroh School, and the general public.
Mr. Narongsak presented a bouquet of flowers to the young scientists and their teachers, gave them moral support, and thanked them for bringing pride to the people of Chiang Rai and the entire country.
High school students from 81 countries worldwide participated in the ISEF 2018. Awards were based on students’ abilities to tackle challenging scientific questions, use authentic research practices, and create solutions for the problems of tomorrow.
