Chiang Rai Province Prepares for Controversial Constitutional Referendum

CHIANG RAI – The Provincial Election Commission Office of Chiang Rai has said that it is prepared to mobilize vehicles to deliver voting tickets to remote areas in the province, as the first batch of tickets arrived amid weather concerns.
Two Thai post office vehicles have delivered the first batch of voting tickets to Chiang Rai. The tickets underwent inspection from local police officers, military personnel and district voting officials before being stored in safety vaults.
The first batch of the tickets are to be used for 14 districts including, including the capital district, while a second batch will be delivered tomorrow for four additional districts.
Chairman of the Provincial Election Commission Office Aekachai Ruankham said his office has yet to uncover any irregularities in the province’s voting process. Officials have continued to inform over 900,000 residents on participating in the referendum.
