Chiang Rai Plants Trees to Honour HRH Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn

Chiang Rai province has held several activities in honor of HRH Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn on the occasion of her 59th birthday anniversary.

Governor of Chiang Rai Phongsak Wangsamoe yesterday presided over the opening ceremony of the celebration, which included the launch of a reforestation project to mark the Princess’s 5th cycle anniversary in 2015.

The celebration was organized by the 3rd Regiment Calvary along with related officials and local residents, in which over 1,000 participants were reported to have joined in.

As part of the celebration, the province will plant 6,000 Leadwood seedlings graciously given by HRH the Princess Maha Chakri, along the Mae Sai River, Ruak River, watershed areas, deteriorating forests as well as community areas. Local authorities reported that a total of 60,000 Leadwood trees would be planted in the targeted zones to mark the 5th cycle anniversary of HRH Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn next year.
