Thai Smiles Flight WE-136 from Suvarnabhumi to Chiang Rai grounded for bomb scare.

CHIANG RAI – The Airports of Thailand (AOT) Sirote Duangratana the General Manager of Suvarnabhumi Airport disclosed to the media that Thai Smiles Flight WE-136 from Suvarnabhumi to Chiang Rai was delayed for nearly five hours on Sunday night following a bomb scare.
Sirote said Suvarnabhumi Airport declared an emergency about 6.50pm after a passenger told a flight crew there was a bomb in a suitcase.
Officials immediately implemented the airport’s emergency procedures for bomb threats, moving the plane to an isolated area on the western side of the Airport where all of the 142 crew and passengers were evacuated.
Security staff searched the passengers and their belongings while an explosive ordnance disposal unit scoured the luggage compartment and the entire aircraft.
The emergency procedure was subsequently lifted at 9:57pm, after officials found no explosive device and the plane departed to Chiang Rai at 11:20pm.
Pol Col Krisana Pattanacharoen, Deputy Spokesperson for the Royal Thai Police, said that officials were questioning a young boy who made the bomb accusation as well as his parents.
