5 Cars Severely Damaged after Summer Storm Blows Down Tree at Mae Chan Hospital

CHIANG RAI – Police in Mae Chan district have reported that on Thursday evening, a sudden summer storm hit Mae Chan Hospital area causing a large tree at medical building 2 to crash down on a public parking garage.

Police reported that 5 cars were heavily damaged by the fallen tree and that the car park roof and support beams were also completely destroyed.

Municipal officials of Mae Chan Sub-district and volunteers from Saeng Tham Public Charity Association, Mae Chan District, helped cut down the fallen tree and clear debris covering the damaged cars and car park.

Officials told Thai media that upon inspection of the tree workers discovered it had been badly eaten by termites which weakened the tree.

The Governor of Chiang Rai Province has Ordeed the Public Disaster Prevention and Mitigation Office (PWA) Chiang Rai and local administrative organizations to survey the damage for insurance purposes.
