47 Year-old Chinese Man Arrested at Chiang Rai’s Airport for Attempting to Smuggle Ketamine to Vietnam
CHIANG RAI – A 47 Year-old Chinese man has been arrested at Chiang Rai’s Mae Fah Luang Airport after trying to smuggle 1Kg of Ketamine powder he purchased in the Golden Triangle.
Thai Customs House officials arrested Wen Teng Hua, 47 after the scanned his luggage and discovered the Ketamine powder in packages disguised as tea. He was allegedly intending to fly on to Hanoi with the packages.
Immigration officials confirmed that Wen entered Thailand on February 19 before visiting Laos, Wen told police that he brought the ketamine from Ton Pheung in Laos.
He told customs officials he brought it back to Chiang Rai to fly to the Vietnamese capital via Bangkok’s Don Mueang Airport.
Mae Sai customs officials believe he smuggled the Ketamine powder from the area near Kings Romans Casino in Laos that is part of the Golden Triangle Special Economic Zone.
