3 Dead and 3 Injured in Car Crash on Mai Sai – Chiang Rai Road

CHIANG RAI – Police reported that there was a serious car accident on the Mae Sai – Chiang Rai Road in Mae Chan District, Chiang Rai.

When the police arrived, a Honda sedan was on fire and a woman driver, Darunee Sombunjai (31), was stuck inside. Once the firefighter has finished putting the fire out in order to free her, she had already died.

Another Honda car involved in the crash had five people in it. The driver, Simoi Harnwang, was seriously injured. The front seat passenger was injured but still be able to talk, while the two passengers at the back seat died. The third backseat passenger was seriously injured.
The investigation concluded that the woman was driving from Mae Chan to Mae Sai and lost control of her vehicle at a curve and veered into the oncoming lane. She crashed into Simoi’s car, who was coming from Mae Sai to his home in Lampang. Darunee’s car burst into flames immediately and both cars were totalled from the high-speed collision. – CityNews
