Celebrate Christmas with All Things Lanna at Central Chiangrai

From Christmas Day to January 5, Central Chiangrai will host the flower sculpture event Colours Of Kasalong, which celebrates the unique Lanna identity.

This is the first time in the province that customers can enjoy a garden of blooming flowers accompanied by live piano music. Central Chiang Rai will also bring together all of the key highlights of the Northern Lana culture in one location.

The event will be a collaboration with the Mae Fah Luang Foundation under Royal Patronage, and it will feature a colourful vibe with various kinds of flowers and floral sculptures decorating the venue.

This includes the “Prao Pan Saeng” tunnel woven from bamboo, a giant bird’s nest made from woven plants for love and prosperity, and a giant Toh Yak sculpture.

A 14m-tall woven fabric “Christmas Tree” on Doi Tung mountain made by local villagers and ethnic tribes has stood there for over a month.

Local products from a variety of ethnic tribes will be available alongside traditional handcrafts from those tribes and eco-items in the Doi Tung style. Additionally, DIY workshops will be held on ceramic painting, mulberry paper notebook sewing, clay pottery, weaving, and terrarium building.

Furthermore, you can take part in traditional folk games, stilt walking, and performances by ethnic groups from Doi Tung. Among them are the Ram NOK ram toh dance, the Tai Yai long drum dance, as well as the Lahu reed mouth organ.

Other attractions will include an illuminated butterfly bridge and a night market. There will also be local delicacies served directly from the mountains to the lowlands.
