46-Year-old Man Gunned Down by Police After Firefight
Police in central Thailand have shot and killed a 46-year-old man wanted for robbery after a gunfight in Nonthaburi’s Pak Kret district on Tuesday afternoon. He was identified as Mr. Chalerm Bua-on aged 46.
Police surrounded his rented room in Pak Kret district around 4:30 pm after learning that the suspect was inside.
Officers surrounded the building and Mr. Chalerm fired two shots at the police from his room. This prompted officers to return fire, killing Mr. Chalerm inside his rented room.
According to a police spokesperson, the 46-year-old suspect was wanted on an arrest warrant for theft. His criminal record showed that he had been involved in more than 10 criminal cases, including theft and rape.
His death comes after two women in Pathum Thani filed a complaint with police that an armed man demanded they hand over their mobile phones, cash, and gold jewelry at a laundromat in the Thanyaburi district.
They said the man then fled on a motorcycle with their items.
Officers began an investigation that eventually led them to Mr. Chalerm at the apartment building.
