Thailand’s German coach Winfried Schaefer has vowed to play an attacking game against Oman Tuesday on match day 2 of the 2014 FIFA World Cup qualifiers at the Rajamangala Stadium.
Thailand lost their opening match narrowly to Australia 2-1 but impressed with their gutsy performance while 2009 Gulf champions Oman played out a goalless stalemate against Saudi Arabia despite an excellent all-round display in front of home fans.
“I was pleased with our performance against Australia but we must change some tactics against Oman,” said Schaefer. “We will play a full attacking game.”
The German said his men could expect a different style of football when clashing with Oman.
“I have watched Oman several times and they have a different style to Australia,” he said.
“Our players must fight harder for the ball when they concede it,” added Schaefer.
The Thai boss had earlier warned that the challenge lay in getting ready for Oman after the long flight back home from Australia.
“The problem about our next match against Oman is not the team, but the long flight back home and I hope my players can get plenty of rest and fluids ahead of the next match.”
