BANGKOK – As part of their bid to return happiness to the people, the National Council for Peace and Order (NCPO) is investing in a 100-million-baht budget to have the Colombian national football team play against the Thai team in Thailand.
The NCPO is offering 20,000 free tickets to members of the public to see the match, set to held on November 16 at Ratchamangala stadium. The remaining tickets will be sold through organizers of the match but it is expected that the price will not be set excessively high.
The Football Association of Thailand has earlier contacted the team, which finished in one of the top eight spots in the FIFA World Cup 2014, with well-known players such as striker Radamel Falcao and midfielder James Rodriguez. The Colombian team is set to play in Thailand on the date that is within the range of acceptable official or friendly matches on the FIFA international match calendar.
Of the 100-million-baht budget, 40 million is for the players and their travel expenses while the rest is management expenses.
