WhatsApp's New Feature Will Change How You Receive Updates

(CTN News) – WABetaInfo reported on Saturday that the Meta-owned instant messaging app, WhatsApp, had just submitted an update to the TestFlight beta program as part of its test phase.

WhatsApp watchers report that the messaging platform is currently working on improving channels with the “Updates” tab that will be available to users in a future update of the app, which will be able to be accessed in the app’s settings.

Currently, the feature referred to as “Channel” is undergoing development, and for this reason, beta testers are not able to access it at the moment.

It was announced earlier this month that the update – a new one-to-many tool for broadcasting information from the people you wish to receive updates from – would be available on the TestFlight app later this month.

WABetaInfo stated that “This feature is still in development but thanks to the latest WhatsApp beta for iOS 23.11.0.70 update available on the TestFlight app, we discovered that WhatsApp continues to work on improving the interface of the status tab,” they added.

In the new version of WhatsApp, it is evident that WhatsApp intends to introduce a tab called “Updates”, which will include both status updates and channels in one place.

It has been reported that the new Updates tab will serve as the home for the new status and channels, marked within a pinned banner, according to the website.

Although some users of the previous WhatsApp beta for Android updates were already able to see the tab, the update includes channels as they are still under development, so some users might have already seen them.

As can be seen from a comparison of the two screenshots, there has been a lot of change in terms of user interface between the two screenshots.

As announced earlier, status updates will now be displayed as a horizontal list, rather than a vertical one. It will therefore be possible to prioritize the visibility of channels on the screen by doing this.

Second, in the most recent update, it was shown that it is possible to see the icon representing the channel that is being viewed.

I would also like to mention that the icon for the “Updates” tab has been redesigned in order to better depict status updates and channels.

There are plans to make it possible to view channels in a future update of the app, according to WABetaInfo, and it will be available in a future version of the app.
