What is IT Outsourcing? The Main Benefits

Many companies choose to outsource their IT Outsourcing processes and support to save time and money. If you’re considering outsourcing, you may be wondering how it works and the benefits it offers.

First, it’s important to understand what outsourced IT means and its importance.

What is IT Outsourced Service?

What is outsourced IT mean? Each person has their own definition of IT outsourcing, but generally, this term refers to the practice of:

· Hiring a third-party service provider to handle some or all IT functions and processes for a business.

Essentially, a business hires an outsourced IT support service to take care of its IT-related tasks. These providers have experienced team members who specialize in IT.

As a result, the business saves time and money because they no longer have to hire an in-house IT team.

Importance of IT Outsourcing Today

Now that you understand the outsourced IT meaning, it’s important to consider the importance of outsourcing in today’s business world.

There are many IT outsourcing features that benefit businesses and allow them to spend more time on core tasks that will help the business grow.

When considering outsourcing IT services, a business must consider which type will work best for its organization.

IT Outsourcing Types

There are three main types of outsourcing: offshoring, nearshoring and offshoring. The only difference between these three types of outsourcing is the distance between the service provider and the business.

Offshoring

With offshoring, a company outsources its IT processes to a provider overseas (offshore). Many businesses choose to offshore because:

· Costs are often lower

· Taxes may be low or non-existent

· Workforces may be larger

An example of offshoring would be an Australian business hiring a team in Vietnam to handle its IT tasks. This is considered offshoring because the countries are in two different regions and have a four-hour time difference.

Nearshoring

Nearshoring, as you may have guessed, is when a business outsources to a provider in a neighboring country. The provider may be in the same time zone as the business, or there may only be a few hours difference.

An example of nearshoring would be a U.S.-based company outsourcing its IT to a provider in Mexico. Mexico sits just below the United States, and many areas will share the same time zone as locations in the U.S.

Onshoring

Onshoring sometimes referred to as homeshoring, is when a business outsources to a provider within its own country.

One advantage of onshoring is those language barriers are typically less of an issue and both teams may share the same time zone.

An example of onshoring would be a company in Japan outsourcing its IT needs to a service provider in Japan.

Outsourced IT Benefits

There are many IT outsourced services benefits, regardless of which type a business chooses.

Saved Time

One of the biggest benefits of outsourcing IT is time savings. Outsourcing frees up valuable time that the business can use to focus on tasks that facilitate growth.

Improved Disaster Recovery

When a business outsources its IT functions, they reap the benefit of having improved disaster recovery. Because the provider is off-site, the data won’t be affected by the disaster, making it much easier to get back up and running.

Lower Costs

In general, outsourcing IT services is more economical than hiring a team in-house. Because these providers have teams of experienced professionals, businesses enjoy lower costs without compromising on the quality of service.

Summary

IT outsourcing offers many benefits to businesses, including time and cost savings. It’s important to weigh the pros and cons and consider your options when outsourcing your business’s IT processes.
