TikTok's Revamped Creator Fund Is Open To All US Creators

(CTN News) – Today, TikTok announced that it is opening its revamped creator fund, called the “Creativity Program Beta,” to all American creators who meet the eligibility requirements. It was in February that the company began testing the new program with a select group of creators.

According to TikTok, the new program is designed to generate higher revenue for creators and unlock more real-world opportunities.

Applicants must have a U.S.-based account, be at least 18 years old, and have at least 10,000 followers and 100,000 views in the last 30 days in order to be considered for the program.

A creator who has been enrolled in the new program will not be able to return to the Creator Fund once enrolled.

In a statement, TikTok did not say whether the Creator Fund will be replaced by the Creativity Program, but it is possible that once TikTok launches the Creativity Program widely and exits its beta phase, the Creator Fund will be abolished.

As part of the Creativity Program Beta, TikTok says its payment formula is designed to offer a higher average gross revenue for qualified video views.

However, the company did not provide any specifics regarding payments. With a $1 billion commitment over three years, the current Creator Fund was launched in 2020, but has been criticized by creators as low payouts, with some saying they earned a few dollars for videos that received millions of views.

Creators need to create original, high-quality videos longer than one minute in order to start earning with the program. TikTok’s Creator Fund does not require videos to be longer than one minute to qualify for payment.

Creators can access an updated dashboard with more information on their estimated revenue, video performance metrics, and video eligibility requirements.

“We’re constantly searching for ways to improve the creator community’s experience and the way creators are rewarded,” TikTok wrote in a blog post about the Creativity Program Beta. It would be great to hear from our community.”

Adding to TikTok’s suite of revenue-generating tools,

Which also includes LIVE subscriptions and TikTok Pulse, is the Creativity Program. Tip monetization and gift monetization are also available.

The new program isn’t the only TikTok program that aims to appease creators. TikTok introduced a new feature called “Series” in March, which allows eligible creators to put a paywall on their content.

Series allows creators to offer collections of premium content behind a paywall that viewers can purchase. Each video in a Series can last up to 20 minutes.

Depending on the value of their exclusive content, creators may decide what price to charge for their Series.

A series is currently only available to a select group of creators, with applications to join opening in the near future.
