Apple Co-founder Steve Jobs’ Worn-out Birkenstocks Auctioned for $218,750
(CTN NEWS) – Apple co-founder Steve Jobs inspired people to such an extent that a superfan bid over $200,000 for a pair of his Birkenstocks. In Los Altos, California, Steve Jobs wore the Birkenstocks while working with Steve Wozniak.
In the 1970s and 1980s, Steve strutted in a pair of sandals that were worn out. The pair of Birkenstocks was expected to sell for $60,000, but ended up bringing a winning bid of $218,750.
However, it still raked in more than double the estimate, despite being nowhere near as popular as the 1985 Nike Air Jordan 1 or the 1987 Nike Air Ship worn by MJ in his rookie season in 1984 that sold for millions.
Julien’s Auctions, a California-based auction house, has not announced the buyer’s identity.
According to its description on the auction website, Steve Jobs’ feet had been shaped after years of using the sandal’s cork and jute footbed.
After Steve Jobs’ death, the sandals were exhibited at various shows, including the 2017 Salone del Mobile in Italy.
Steve Jobs was often seen wearing the pair. In addition to the website description, Chrisann Brennan, Job’s former partner, explains why sandals are part of this “uniform”.

Social media is buzzing with news of the sandal’s auction. One Twitter user tweeted about the high price of the winning bid,
“Someone just paid $200,000 for a dirty pair of sandals all because Steve Jobs wore them.”. What a waste. It would have been great if that had been given to the poor.”

Honestly, what does one do with this once you've purchased these? Do you just walk around randomly telling people you paid $220k for Steve Job's sandals? Do you show them on a shelf? Do you take them to parties? Wear them? What?? https://t.co/r8Fp1Goqxm
