(CTN News) – There has been a Snapchat AI at the top of everyone’s chat list for the past month. We have very little choice but to have a robot friend right above our real friends, whether we like it or not.

A chatbot dubbed “My AI” is designed to provide users with helpful information as well as a voice they can speak to about whatever they wish.

While Snapchat has done all it can to ensure that its My AI does not generate controversial or harmful responses, there are still a number of cases and examples that point to its inadequacy to be rolled out across the entire user base.

During one instance, verified by The Washington Post, the AI advised the columnist posing as a 15-year-old on how to mask the smell of alcohol and pot.

People have found that the AI frequently turns to discussing inappropriate topics without much encouragement; this is not the only instance.

There is no doubt that many individuals would like the option to remove Snapchat’s latest feature, but at the moment there is not much of an option to do so.

The only way to remove My AI is by becoming a Snapchat + subscriber, and unfortunately most people will not be able to do this. Users of Snapchat + have access to “exclusive experimental and pre-release features” for a monthly fee. The most important feature is the ability to remove My AI from the system.

Here is what you need to do if you have Snapchat + in order to remove the artificial intelligence.

1. Press and hold the chat button for your AI.

2. Click on the chat settings button.

3. Clear the chat from the feed by selecting it.

In the event that you are not a subscriber, the option in the last step will not be available to you, which means you will have to use the AI unless you are willing to pay.

Hopefully, Snapchat will offer this option to its entire user base in the future, since it should be something that can be turned off more for safety reasons than anything else.
