Metaverse, Not a Piece of Cake for Apple

Apple has a terrific history in terms of providing the best products and services in terms of customer satisfaction. But the introduction of AR augmented reality and a metaverse is totally a new venture that Apple is targeting. As per TheBusinessUp, Apple products are made to rely on the services catered by Apple itself, therefore it is looking to take advantage of virtual reality in the coming days.

In the forthcoming days, it is anticipated that it will showcase its virtual reality headset at the WWDC (Worldwide developers conference) at Cupertino, HQ. As per the reports the engineers of Apple have done exhaustive research and work on their VR headset. Keeping in mind the stakes the design element could be aesthetic similar to ski goggles. It has become a hot topic on several tech platforms. Even the techmagzines have reported the expected features of the VR set.

The Metaverse

Without any doubt, the metaverse is the tech that every tech company want to join the bandwagon without any delay.

Metaverse is a futuristic technology which creates an immersive and virtual world to consume content as well as other services. In general, we use AR glass to consume interactive services, which create virtual surrounding around us. However, Tim Cook has never shown any signs of defining the product or services that they will serve to their consumers.

It will be a risky move for Apple to create a new sector of consuming services. As per the historical data of their product and services lineup, they are the late adaptors of tech and services. As per Tim Cook itself, Apple has its own way of launching products and services even going through severe criticism. In other words, before launching of this new segment product and services, Apple will analyse every possible aspect to make it successful.

Not an easy road ahead

The overall profit of Apple has gone off the charts in recent years. With emerging markets such as India, they have managed to sell $205 Billion in revenue from iPhones only. From last year’s report, Apple has total sales of 51.3 Billion in the first quarter of the year. But reports have emerged explaining that the road for Metaverse will not be a piece of cake.

Companies like Google and Microsoft already have failed projects that failed to lure people to consume their services. Even as per the report of Bloomberg, it is estimated to take sales up to 3 million units every year, but all those reduced down to just 900,000. The reason behind the sales dip is the constricted supply of silicon.

The immense rehaul is clearly a sign of a tough road ahead for Apple taking the idea of Metaverse. From a techmagazines report, giant such as Microsoft lost their traction with their own VR version of Metaverse called Holo Lens and their Universe. And now Microsoft has no VR products in their arsenal.

On the other side the founder of Facebook Mark Zuckerberg, has also invested in VR by buying the popular VR company Oculus. Facebook sold almost 20 million Quest units. They are targeting wider markets by reducing the price of headsets and they have dropped their product by 500, The Verge reported.

Companies giving importance to AI

With the rising popularity of chatbots such as Chat GPT, BARD AI, Bing AI, etc now brands are finding more reasons to go for AI bots. On the other hand, Apple is under confident about its mission for Metaverse as the majority of consumers are not fully exposed towards it.

After the launch of ChatGPT, it has become a trending topic and everyday you will find innovative uses of ChatGPT on social media platforms. Even normal users are bewildered by the power of AI to their daily life problems very easily. Therefore companies are more inclined to launch their own version of AI.

Though there is a complete reticence from Apple. Even the investors and long-time Apple Gene Munster is getting disappointed to get no information about any sign of venture in AI.

But we cannot ignore the importance of Metaverse too as it is the forthcoming tech that will create magic with AI. On the other side, Apple must have been cooking something big regarding their own version of Metaverse and perspicacious AI bot.
