iPhone 14 to be Delayed this Year Due to COVID Lockdowns

(CTN News) – The iPhone 14 leaks are mounting endlessly as the launch date draws closer, but the unveiling may be pushed back due to COVID lockdowns. According to Nikkei Asia, Apple’s Chinese suppliers are behind schedule.

An anonymous source familiar with the matter says Apple is urging its suppliers to speed up production in order to keep up with manufacturing schedules.

Apple’s iPhone 14 Delayed Due to COVID in China

Foxconn, Pegatron, and Luxshare Precision Industry are some of Apple’s main suppliers in China. Those two companies are struggling to reopen factories in Shanghai due to the COVID-19 resurgence in the region. Apple’s revenue could be reduced by over $8 billion as a result of the production disruption.

According to Apple’s usual development schedules, the company should complete its verification testing (EVT) phase by June. However, the new report confirms that one of the iPhone 14 models will be delayed by three weeks.

It remains to be seen whether the recent changes will affect the launch date. Apple plans to begin mass production by September. Apple usually releases new iPhones at the end of September, but the production delays could postpone the launch until October.
