Apple Expands US Investment With Broadcom 5G Deal

(CTN News) – Broadcom, one of Apple’s long-term suppliers, has announced its latest partnership with the company as part of an expansion of its existing relationship.

In this new partnership, which Apple describes as a “multibillion-dollar deal,” Broadcom will work with Apple to develop and build a number of key 5G radio frequency components in the United States as part of this new agreement.

According to Apple, it is already supporting more than 1,100 jobs at Broadcom’s FBAR filter manufacturing facility in Fort Collins, Colorado, which produces FBAR filters.

Broadcom is pleased to announce a new partnership with Apple through which it will be able to “continue to invest in critical automation projects and train technicians and engineers.”

It should be noted that this investment is being made as part of announcement in 2021 that it plans to invest $430 billion in the US economy over a five-year period.

The company currently declares that it is “on track to meet its target as a result of direct spending with American suppliers, data center investments, and capital expenditures in the U.S., among other domestic expenditures.”

The deal between and Broadcom comes as continues to develop its own internal technology for things like Bluetooth and Wi-Fi components in order to keep up with the competition.

By doing this, Apple will be able to reduce the amount of time it spends on components manufactured by companies such as Broadcom.

There is a rumor floating around that Apple is developing a chip that combines Wi-Fi and Bluetooth that could be available as soon as 2025, for instance.

In addition to its own versions of other iPhone components, including radio-frequency chips and wireless charging components, which are currently supplied by Broadcom, Apple has also been working on its own versions of other iPhone components as well.

As far back as 2019, there was a rumor that was in the running to acquire Broadcom’s radio-frequency, or RF, segment of its wireless chip business back in 2019.

The rumors never came true, and Broadcom eventually decided not to sell its business as a result of these rumors.
